There is nothing like enjoying the company of like minded people and sharing their home, Christine made me so welcome and it was an added bonus that Jaslyn from Perth was staying there too. We had so many fun filled hours together sitting around Christine’s huge table in the evenings talking, creating and laughing, very treasured memories made – good friends, positive people.
The workshop was held in a local community center, it was huge with light streaming in through a wall of windows. The best class room I have ever taught in, plenty of room for everyone’s stuff, great facilities and of course lovely people. I love Adelaide!
I felt very privileged to teach in Australia again, this time I went to Townsville and Adelaide – two very different places! The Tropical Topsies are a very clever bunch of girls and I can see how their doll making has really benefited from the variety of tutors they have taken workshops with, they are able to apply different skills to achieve very creative work! I loved my time with them and was reluctant to leave. It was very special having fish and chips on the beach watching the sunset. As you will see, Lizzie’ is a very popular choice!
I feel very privileged going to Christchurch and having a chance to catch up with my friend Cathy, she is one of the most creative people I know and can successfully achieve nearly every craft known, as well as cook and make fantastic coffee!
Hands Craft Shop where I work has an amazing range of stock, in fact the best I’ve seen in New Zealand as far as craft supplies go, not to mention their magazines and books. I always find and purchase some unusual bits and pieces there. I could easily spend hours in that shop and the staff are so helpful.
The girls enjoyed making Lizzie and I was inspired to hear their stories of the changes to their lives since ‘the quake’, amazing positive people. I love being in the South Island
I always like going to Ashburton teaching, the classroom is in the middle of the shop, so we are surrounded by beautiful quilts, enticing stock and interested customers. Everyone interacts which is always fun. Some of the girls I knew from previous ventures so it was like catching up, and of course it is always great to meet new doll makers. Cindy and her family are wonderful hosts!
These lovely ladies had lots of fun making Lizzie in my workshop in Whakatane, some were new to doll making but any nervousness went out the door in the first couple of hours. What a great group and perfect weather too!
